Joseph Curl, the former editor of the Drudge Report, announced on Tuesday that he will launch a conservative-oriented news aggregator to deliver to individuals who “devour news all day.”
The new site, dubbed “Off The Press,” will deliver 24/7 access to breaking news with the goal of preventing the continued mainstream media echo that many sites produce.
“Now more than ever, keeping up with the most important stories is a battle. With social media deluging everyone with endless posts on their news feeds, the internet needs an editor to cull the very best stories and present them on a single site. That will be the sole mission of Off The Press,” Curl explained in an emailed press release.
Furthermore, Curl described that the site’s perspective will be mainly conservative, but it will also include coverage from all political angles with the goal of “keeping voters aware of developments from both the left and the right and everywhere in between.”
Curl noted the need for his new site emerged with the decline of the Drudge Report to “just another echo chamber for the mainstream media.”
Conservatives across the country have criticized the shift from Drudge, largely after the rise of former President Donald Trump.
“For decades, Matt Drudge was one of the most influential figures in conservative news journalism. But if you’ve seen the Drudge Report recently, you know that it has changed dramatically, 180 degrees. Matt Drudge is now firmly a man of the progressive left. At times, his site is indistinguishable from The Daily Beast or any other woke propaganda outlet posing as a news company,” said popular television host Tucker Carlson.
In addition to Curl, journalist Paul Bedard, “Washington Secrets” columnist for the Washington Examiner, will serve as co-editor.
